Ventana Inn & Spa Cottage House

Ventana Inn & Spa Cottage House

The most romantic getaway my husband and I ever had. This place even beat where we spent our honeymoon in Barbados!

The name of the place is called Ventana, and it is nestled in the beautiful mountains, overlooking Big Sur in Northern California. We drove to Big Sur from San Diego, taking the Coast Highway to get there. The drive was amazing, having the Pacific Ocean to look at the whole drive, made time fly by, before you knew it, we were in Big Sur.

As we drove up to Ventana, I thought I was looking a a hotel from a Rich and Famous episode. We were greeted with a glass of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries! When we opened the door to our room, my breath was taken away! The room had a two person Jacuzzi, a fireplace with a plasma TV, hanging over it. To top it off, our porch overlooked the ocean! As you can imagine, our time there flew by. We did manage to take advantage of their spa, which gave amazing massages. The activities there were endless, from walking trails, going to the beach, to just sitting in the porch enjoying the scenery. I could have stayed a whole month there! Just to warn you, it is a little pricey, but you just have to splurge sometime.

Babymoon Guide Note:
In Spanish, ventana means window and it certainly sounds like The Ventana Inn & Spa is a window to some magnificent vistas. Babymooning couples should be able to grab plenty of R&R here.

Alcohol in moderation is not poison
by: Anonymous

One glass of champagne is harmless. Studies show that excessive amounts of alcohol can lead to fetal alcohol syndrome, but swearing off all alcohol is overdoing it. It's like never driving because you might get in an accident.

My wife (who is a doctor) and I enjoyed a bit of wine now and again during her pregnancy and everyone turned out fine.

Dangerous Details

Champagne and jacuzzis? Neither of those things are safe for pregnant women.

***Note from Babymoon Guide***

As this anonymous poster states, champagne and jacuzzis are definitely off limits to pregnant women. Keep in mind that most resorts will gladly provide sparkling cider instead of champagne. Of course, to those babymooners who are building their families through adoption...cheers! and enjoy that jacuzzi!
